Welcome back to ‘Three Thoughts Thursday’ Within this weekly blog I will share the three thoughts that have been at the front of my mind over the last few days. I hope these three thoughts can be of benefit to you. This week I share an approach I use within my coaching practice.
The start, stop continue exercise
An exercise I enjoy facilitating with clients is to understand what they would like to start, stop and continue. More often than not I have found offering someone a safe space to stop, think and share results in greater clarity with renewed motivation.
The three lives that we live
Within the start, stop, and continue exercise I focus on the three lives that we live: (1) at work, (2) at home, and (3) inside our own head. I separate each life to achieve greater clarity in thinking. This exercise lasts typically around forty-five mins and can feel gritty as we make progress with thoughts that may not have been previously identified.
Your own goals and timeline defined
Within the session, it is essential that the client decides upon their own goals and timelines. Previously I had two ex-smokers complete this exercise, both had different timelines and goals which is correct as no two people's expectations or situations are the same.
So why not grab a pen and paper and try this exercise for yourself?
Thanks for reading.
Have a great day
Mark.
