Welcome back to ‘Three Thoughts Thursday’ Within this weekly blog I will share the three thoughts that have been at the front of my mind over the last few days. I hope these three thoughts can be of benefit to you. This week my thoughts centre around sleep
Why is sleep important?
The many benefits of sleep include the reduction of stress, the chances of becoming ill, and the improvement of mood. A good night's sleep can make a real difference in our physical performance and mental well-being.
How to form a good sleeping habits?
Forming a good sleep habit can be achieved by going to bed at the same time each day, limiting caffeine and alcohol as well as creating an evening ritual such as small activities you do prior to going to bed which could be no phone after a certain time, or drink a glass of water.
What to do if you’re restless?
When you can’t sleep there are many things not to do such as eat carbs, drink caffeine, or start scrolling through your phone. Over the last few years I have found some ways to help get off to sleep including lowering the room's temperature, practicing some breathing exercises, or even leaving the bedroom for 15 - 30 mins as when I return I am generally more sleepy.
